"GRAVA. sopralluoghi e materiali del promontorio della paura. Una post- investigazione” è un libro che riflette sui meccanismi di terrore nelle terre della malavita. Il titolo, fa riferimento al dossier del 2009 del comando dei carabinieri di San Giovanni Rotondo(mio luogo di nascita), nella capitanata di Foggia, che dopo lunghe investigazioni sulle vicende di "lupara bianca" garganica, hanno portato al recupero di cadaveri nell’inghiottitoio dal nome “Grava di Zazzano” nel comune di San Marco in Lamis. Il libro è una documentazione post-investigativa avvenuta grazie alla presenza di un carabiniere che si è prestato allo svolgimento dell'indagine per un tracciamento geografico delle masserie dei mafiosi, dei summit tra capi e degli omicidi avvenuti dal 1978 ad oggi: una raccolta di materiali del Gargano al fine di mappare, decifrare e rendere visibili i luoghi di un promontorio che, per la sua orografia calcarea, costituita da grotte e da boschi fitti, si presta all’occultamento di cadaveri, al fine quindi, di tracciare quasi una morfologia della paura, istintiva e incarnata nelle forme della montagna stessa.
Il materiale fotografico scattato durante il percorso di documentazione dei sopralluoghi, è affiancato da una narrazione contemporanea costituita da chat e trascrizioni di registrazioni avvenute sul campo di indagine con il carabiniere e altri interlocutori interni alle vicende mafiose. Di conseguenza, il plico ottenuto, è l’insieme di tutti il materiale acquisito durante l’intera operazione di indagine: trascrizioni di conversazioni registrate in loco, mappe dei percorsi stradali dei sopralluoghi, documentazioni fotografiche; materiale d’archivio concessomi dai carabinieri sangiovannesi, riguardo l’operazione di recupero dei corpi presso la Grava di Zazzano e le trascrizioni di chat sull'app di messaggistica di Whatsapp, in cui avviene lo scambio di informazioni.

"GRAVA. inspections and materials of the promontory of fear. A post-investigation” it is a book that reflects on the mechanisms of terror in the lands of the underworld. The title refers to the 2009 dossier of the Carabinieri command of San Giovanni Rotondo (my place of birth), in the captaincy of Foggia, which after long investigations into the events of the Gargano "lupara bianca", led to the recovery of corpses in the sinkhole named “Grava di 'Zazzano” in the municipality of San Marco in Lamis.The book is a post-investigative documentation that took place thanks to the presence of a carabiniere who lent himself to carrying out the investigation for a geographical tracing of the mafia farms, of the summits between leaders and of the murders that occurred from 1978 to today: a collection of materials of the Gargano in order to map, decipher and make visible the places of a promontory which, due to its limestone orography, made up of caves and thick woods, lends itself to the concealment of corpses, with the aim therefore of tracing almost a morphology of the fear, instinctive and embodied in the shapes of the mountain itself. The photographic material taken during the documentation of the inspections is accompanied by a contemporary narrative made up of chats and transcriptions of recordings that took place in the field of investigation with the policeman and other interlocutors within the mafia events. Consequently, the package obtained is the set of all the material acquired during the entire investigation operation: transcripts of conversations recorded on site, maps of the road routes of the inspections, photographic documentation; archive material granted to me by the carabinieri, regarding the body recovery operation at the Grava of Zazzano and the transcripts of chats on the Whatsapp messaging app, in which the exchange of information takes place.
